The couple, who are still booking movie roles and Brad's Babel was even nominated for an Oscar, have been keeping a low profile and letting their past tabloid headlines fall to the wayside.
While everyone was at the Oscars this past Sunday night in the pinnacle of glitz and glam, Brad and Angelina choose to stay out of the paparazzi frenzy. Instead the couple opted for a low-key family trip to New Orleans where both are still working diligently on humanitarian efforts. Their little ones also tagged along in t-shirts and sneakers, not designer children's duds or thousand dollar strollers.
Dare we say the family actually looked...normal. It is so rare in Hollywood today to use the word "normal", especially in reference to two of the largest celebrities in the Hollywood market. It is not that they are losing steam as desired actors, but that they have chosen not to let the glitz of Hollywood dictate their lives.
It seems as though other famous families are taking cues. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have both been laying low since their birth of their daughter. The parents of one-year-old Violet seem content to hit Starbucks on Sunday morning and pass on the party scene. Jennifer recently admitted that unless a role was really good, it wasn't worth spending less time with her daughter. Perhaps that is why, Alias acting aside, I have always had such admiration for her. She keeps things down to earth, and could not be more grounded in her personal values.
It is refreshing to see such grown-up and mature parenting in a culture that so often marked with childlike behavior. Never thought I would find myself musing this, but honestly Brad and Angelina serve as role models to such wild child parents as Kate Moss and Britney Spears.
So congrats to Brad, Angelina, Jen, and Ben for constantly striving to find a balance and real family values in the often hollow world of fame.
